In numerous contemporary automobiles, an Idle Stop system, also known as Start-Stop or Stop-Start, automatically shuts down and restarts the engine to minimize idle time, effectively reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The KPX-100B addresses common issues associated with this technology, such as voltage drops in CD Tuners and Mobile Media Stations, which can result in the unit powering off when the vehicle restarts at traffic lights.
By monitoring the vehicle's battery voltage, the KPX-100B can buffer the output voltage at a stable 12VDC when sudden drops in input voltage occur. Equipped with a DC/DC converter, the KPX-100B is controlled by a microprocessor that continually monitors input voltage. In standby mode, current bypasses the DC/DC converter. However, upon detecting a sudden voltage drop, the converter engages to stabilize the output voltage at 12 VDC.
The KPX-100B is designed to buffer a CD Tuner, Mobile Media Station, or similar product, along with a steering wheel remote control interface. This feature enables installations in vehicles previously deemed incompatible due to their restrictive technologies.
