BlackVue ELITE 9 Dash Cam & B-130A Installed in Zeekr 7 | Sydney

Published by Joseph on 31st Aug 2026

Brand-New Zeekr 7, Brand-New BlackVue ELITE 9 Dash Cam

We had another brand-new electric vehicle through the workshop this week, and this time it was a Zeekr 7 coming in for a premium dash cam installation.

The Zeekr is packed with technology from the factory, which is exactly why this installation was an interesting one. You might expect a vehicle this advanced to already have every possible security and recording feature covered, but the owner still wanted the additional protection of a dedicated BlackVue dash camera.

The choice was the BlackVue ELITE 9 2CH, paired with the BlackVue B-130A Power Magic Ultra Battery.

For us, this is a perfect example of why premium dash cams are still relevant in the rapidly growing Australian electric vehicle market. Whether you're driving a Zeekr, BYD, Tesla, Kia EV, Hyundai IONIQ, MG, XPeng or another new-generation electric vehicle, having the right dash camera is about more than simply recording the road ahead.

It's about having a purpose-built recording and security system that is designed to do the job properly.

Why Put a Dash Cam in a Brand-New Electric Car?

This is a question we hear more often as the number of Chinese electric cars in Australia continues to grow.

A customer has just spent a significant amount of money on a brand-new electric vehicle, so why add an aftermarket dash cam?

The answer is simple: the factory vehicle technology and a dedicated premium dash camera serve different purposes.

A modern EV can have cameras, sensors, driver-assistance systems and an enormous amount of technology built into it, but a dedicated dash cam such as the BlackVue ELITE 9 is specifically designed to continuously record what's happening around the vehicle.

That's particularly important when you're looking for:

  • Dash cam recording while driving
  • Front and rear video recording
  • Parking Mode protection
  • Impact detection
  • Motion detection
  • Evidence following an accident
  • Protection against incidents while parked
  • High-quality footage that can be saved and shared
  • A discreet, professionally installed camera system
  • Dedicated battery power for extended parking recording

The result is a completely separate recording system that complements the technology already built into the Zeekr.

BlackVue ELITE 9 – Premium 4K Dash Cam Technology

For this Zeekr 7 installation, the customer chose the BlackVue ELITE 9 2CH.

This is one of the reasons we continue to recommend BlackVue to customers who don't want to compromise on their dash cam.

The ELITE 9 is a 4K front and 2K rear dual-channel dash camera, giving the driver significantly more detail than many entry-level dash cams available on the Australian market.

For us, the important part isn't simply being able to say a camera is "4K".

It's what that extra resolution means when you actually need to review footage.

Number plates, vehicles, road signs and other details can become important after an accident or incident. Having a high-quality recording from both the front and rear of the vehicle gives the owner considerably more information than relying on a basic front-facing camera.

The ELITE 9 also supports a range of recording modes including Smart Event Recording and Parking Mode, with motion detection, time lapse and power-saving options available.

That makes it particularly well suited to a vehicle like the Zeekr 7.

BlackVue ELITE 9 Front & Rear Dash Cam Installation

When installing a premium dash cam into a new vehicle, the installation is just as important as the camera itself.

We installed the ELITE 9 neatly behind the factory rear-view mirror area, keeping the camera discreet and ensuring it doesn't interfere with the driver's view.

The rear camera was positioned at the top of the rear glass, giving the system a clear view behind the vehicle.

BlackVue recommends positioning the front camera behind the rear-view mirror and the rear camera at the top centre of the rear windshield, with cabling routed neatly through the vehicle's trim and weather seals.

This is where having an experienced professional dash cam installer in Sydney makes a difference.

We don't want to see a brand-new Zeekr with cables hanging down the windscreen or trim that hasn't been correctly refitted.

The goal is simple:

When the installation is finished, it should look like it belongs in the car.

BlackVue B-130A Battery – The Perfect Addition for an EV

The second major part of this installation was the BlackVue B-130A battery pack.

For customers wanting serious Parking Mode protection, we strongly recommend considering a dedicated dash cam battery rather than simply relying on the vehicle's main electrical system.

The B-130A is a dedicated LiFePO4 external battery designed specifically to power compatible BlackVue dash cameras. BlackVue lists the battery at 7,500mAh / 96Wh and highlights its ability to provide extended parking-mode operation without relying solely on the vehicle's main battery.

This is particularly relevant when installing a dash cam into an electric vehicle.

The B-130A essentially gives the dash cam its own dedicated power source for Parking Mode.

Rather than having the BlackVue camera continually draw power from the vehicle while parked, the dedicated battery pack supplies the dash cam after the vehicle is switched off.

BlackVue specifically describes the B-130A as an alternative to hardwiring the camera directly to the vehicle and recommends it for customers wanting extended parked recording while reducing the risk of vehicle battery discharge.

For a brand-new Zeekr, that's exactly the sort of solution we like.

Why We Recommend a Dedicated Battery for Parking Mode

Parking Mode is one of the biggest reasons customers come to us looking for a premium BlackVue dash cam installation in Sydney.

A dash cam isn't particularly useful as a security camera if it stops recording as soon as you park the car.

With the right installation and power solution, the BlackVue can continue monitoring the vehicle while it's parked.

The B-130A is designed specifically for this purpose.

BlackVue states that the B-130A can provide extended parking operation, with run time dependent on the camera configuration and vehicle conditions. It can also be monitored through the BlackVue app using Bluetooth.

That gives the owner another level of confidence when leaving their new Zeekr parked at home, at work, in a shopping centre car park or anywhere else.

Installing Dash Cams in Chinese Electric Cars in Australia

We're seeing more and more Chinese electric vehicles in Australia, and the Zeekr is a great example of how quickly the Australian automotive market is changing.

Customers are buying vehicles from brands such as:

  • Zeekr
  • BYD
  • MG
  • GWM
  • XPeng
  • Leapmotor
  • Chery
  • LDV

These vehicles bring impressive technology, modern interiors and increasingly sophisticated electrical systems to the Australian market.

But installing accessories into these vehicles requires the installer to understand that they're not necessarily wired or constructed like a traditional petrol-powered vehicle.

That's why we don't approach an EV dash cam installation as simply "plugging in a camera".

We look at the vehicle, determine the best camera locations, plan the cable routing and install the power system carefully so the finished result is clean and discreet.

For Zeekr dash cam installation in Sydney, this attention to detail is particularly important when the customer has just driven their brand-new vehicle out of the showroom.

Why the BlackVue ELITE 9 Still Stands Out

We've installed plenty of dash cams over the years, and there are plenty of cheaper cameras available.

But when a customer comes into our workshop with a brand-new vehicle like the Zeekr 7 and specifically wants the best protection possible, this is where BlackVue ELITE 9 makes sense.

It's not just about having a camera.

It's about having a complete system.

BlackVue ELITE 9 + B-130A gives the owner:

  • 4K front dash cam recording
  • 2K rear camera recording
  • Dual-channel coverage
  • Parking Mode
  • Event recording
  • Motion detection
  • Dedicated battery power
  • Discreet installation
  • Smartphone connectivity
  • Professional installation
  • A premium dash cam system designed for long-term use

And importantly, BlackVue cameras are designed without a distracting LCD screen, helping keep the installation discreet behind the rear-view mirror area.

Professional Zeekr Dash Cam Installation in Sydney

Installing a dash cam into a brand-new Zeekr isn't something we'd recommend treating as a DIY weekend project.

The camera itself is only part of the installation.

Cable routing, trim removal, power connections and camera positioning all need to be considered.

We regularly install dash cams, BlackVue cameras and parking-mode battery systems in Sydney, and our approach is always to make the installation as clean and unobtrusive as possible.

BlackVue itself recommends professional installation for its dash cameras, particularly where hardwiring or battery systems are involved.

We take the same approach with EVs.

No visible cables. No messy trim. No unnecessary modifications. Just a clean professional installation.

The Zeekr 7 Proves Why Dash Cams Still Matter

One of the things we liked about this installation was the vehicle itself.

The Zeekr 7 is a perfect example of the direction the Australian car market is heading.

It's a new-generation electric vehicle packed with technology, yet the owner still specifically wanted a BlackVue dash camera and dedicated parking battery installed.

And that's something we are seeing more often.

The more advanced cars become, the more customers want to protect them.

Whether you're buying a Zeekr 7, Zeekr 7X, BYD Seal, BYD Shark, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV9, Hyundai IONIQ 5 or another new electric vehicle, a high-quality dash cam is one of the most worthwhile accessories you can add.

For us, BlackVue remains one of the brands we recommend when customers want premium recording quality, reliable Parking Mode and a professional-looking installation.
