The C7-650cw component woofer offers unparalleled versatility, capable of operating within a 3-way system with a midrange and tweeter, or as part of a 2-way configuration with just a tweeter. Engineered from the ground up, it boasts exceptional linear excursion capability and impeccable linearity, resulting in robust mid-bass and pure, precise mid-range performance. Through meticulous optimization of dynamic motor and suspension behaviors, distortion and non-linearities are minimized, ensuring pristine audio reproduction.
C7 drivers do not come with passive crossover networks, as they are specifically designed for active systems. We recommend utilizing a high-quality tuning DSP, such as the JL Audio TwK® 88 or D8, or a VXi amplifier with built-in DSP, allocating a dedicated amplifier channel for each C7 loudspeaker in the system. This allows for precise setup of equalization, delay, and crossover filters, guaranteeing optimal in-vehicle performance.
Design Highlights of the C7-650cw:
- Cone and Dust Cap: Crafted from vacuum-formed, mineral-filled polypropylene material for excellent damping and low mass. The cone body features a gently curvilinear profile to enhance response, while a specially shaped dust cap improves high-frequency behavior.
- Suspension Design: The moving assembly is suspended and damped via a large-diameter, linear profile spider made from a Nomex®/polycotton blend, combined with a positive-roll rubber surround, providing optimal damping without restricting excursion capability.
- Motor Design: Utilizes a high-density magnetic circuit with a high-grade Y35 Strontium-ferrite magnet and a specially machined, T-Yoke motor topology. Motor magnetics are precisely optimized using advanced FEA tools to minimize distortion and maintain linear motor force.
- Voice Coil: Features a 32 mm (1.27 inch) diameter overhung voice coil wound with copper wire onto a fiberglass voice coil former, offering extended power handling capability and minimizing thermal compression and distortion at higher listening levels.
- Chassis Design: Incorporates a purpose-engineered cast alloy basket with thin spokes to maximize rear open area, along with JL Audio's Patented Elevated Frame Cooling technology.

Manufactured in the USA with global components, each C7-650cw is sold individually and includes a cast-alloy grille tray, one fine mesh steel grille insert, and one spiral steel grille insert.
