HSP Roll R Cover Fitted to a 2025 Isuzu D-Max Blade – Factory Sports Bar Kept

Another HSP roller cover came through the workshop this week, and this one went on a 2025 Isuzu D-Max Blade. The owner wanted a secure, lockable tub that opens at the press of a button, without losing the Blade's factory sports bar. The HSP Roll R electric roller cover does exactly that.

Why an HSP roller cover suits the D-Max Blade

The sports bar is a big part of the Blade's look, and plenty of tonneau covers make you take it off for good. HSP makes a Blade-specific version of the Roll R Cover for the Gen 3 D-Max dual cab. The factory bar slots into pre-mapped points on the cover's side rails, so it stays at its original height and the cover runs underneath it.

The owner also liked that:

  • It's Australian made. HSP designs and builds the Roll R Cover in Victoria.
  • The slats are interlocking aluminium and cut-proof, so tools and gear stay locked away.
  • It opens and closes from the D-Max's factory remote, the touch pad on the tub, or the HSP phone app.
  • It rolls fully into a compact canister at the front of the tub, so you get the whole tub back when it's open.
  • It has built-in LED lighting, which helps when you're loading up at night.

How we fitted it in the workshop

  1. Matched the right kit. The D-Max cover comes in different versions for the Blade, the X-Rider extended sports bar, the A-frame sports bar and utes with no bar. We ordered the Blade Edition version so the rails line up with the Blade's bar.
  2. Bar off, rails on. We removed the factory sports bar, then fitted the side rails to the tub and the canister at the cab end.
  3. Bar back on. The sports bar went back into the insertion points on the rails, at factory height and below the roofline.
  4. Power and controls. We wired in the power and set the cover up to run off the factory remote and the touch pad.
  5. Drainage and testing. We connected the drain points and ran the cover through full open, close and pause cycles before handing the keys back.

The result is a clean, factory-looking finish. Unless you know what to look for, it's hard to tell the cover wasn't fitted at the Isuzu factory.

Good to know before you buy

  • Water resistant, not waterproof. The gutter system drains over 60 litres per minute, which handles heavy rain well. Even so, keep anything that can't get damp in a dry bag or tub box.
  • The touch pad works only when the ute is unlocked. That's a security feature, not a fault.
  • Not every D-Max is the same. The X-Terrain uses a different setup, so tell us your exact model and year and we'll confirm the right kit.

Roller covers for other utes

The D-Max is a popular one for us, but we supply and fit HSP electric roller covers for the Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, Nissan Navara, BYD Shark 6 and more. If HSP makes a cover for your ute, we can fit it.
