Strathfield Car Radios now stocks the full range of Aerpro power tailgate kits. They convert a manual tailgate to electric, so it opens and closes at the press of a button. If your car came with a manual tailgate, you no longer need to step up to a higher model grade to get a power one. Many of these vehicles offer power tailgates only on top-spec variants, and these kits bring the same convenience to the rest of the range.

How an Aerpro Power Tailgate Kit Works

The kit replaces your car's factory gas struts with electric struts, controlled by a dedicated tailgate ECU. Each kit is built for a specific make, model and year range. The struts, brackets and wiring are made to fit your vehicle, so the finished install looks and works like a factory option.

Features across the range

  • Open from your key: operate the tailgate with your remote key, the factory tailgate button or the switch supplied with the kit (the GWM Tank 300 kits use the key and factory switch)
  • Stop and reverse: press once to stop the tailgate mid-travel, press again to send it the other way
  • Anti-pinch protection: the tailgate stops and reverses if it meets an obstruction
  • Adjustable opening height: set it lower for a low garage roof or easier reach. Many kits also let you adjust opening speed, closing speed and braking force
  • Front switch: optional on most kits, and included with the Pajero Sport, Fortuner and 2026 RAV4 kits
  • Audible confirmation: a beep confirms each action

Toyota Power Tailgate Kits

Toyota has the largest range of kits, covering family SUVs, 4WDs and even the Camry sedan's boot lid. The Corolla, Kluger, RAV4 and the 2026-onwards RAV4 kits are also compatible with the ARTGKS Kick Sensor.

Nissan Power Tailgate Kits

Nissan kits cover the X-Trail across two generations, the Qashqai, the 2016 Pathfinder and the Y62 Patrol, whose big tailgate is one of the hardest to reach.

Kia Power Tailgate Kits

Kia kits cover the Carnival people mover in both 2020-2023 and 2024-2025 versions, plus the Sorento and Sportage SUVs.

Can I add a power tailgate to my car?

If your vehicle is listed above, yes. Each kit is designed for a specific make, model and year range, so check the year carefully. For example, the Nissan X-Trail, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Kluger and Kia Carnival each have different kits for different generations.

Can a sedan have a power boot lid?

Yes. The Toyota Camry 2018-2023, Camry 2024-2025 and Volkswagen Passat B8 sedan kits convert the boot lid to power operation.

What happens if something is in the way?

Every kit has anti-pinch protection. If the tailgate meets an obstruction while it's moving, it stops and reverses.

Will it hit my garage roof?

Not if you set it correctly. You can set the maximum opening height, and we can set it for you during installation.

Which Corolla kit do I need?

Toyota Corolla owners should check whether their car has a factory tailgate button. The ARTCRL19 suits Corollas with the button, and the ARTCRN19 suits Corollas without it. If you're not sure, call us and we'll help.
